| Welcome to Maes Gylfinir! Bring your telescope and enjoy the dark skies of beautiful Mid Wales. During the daytime you can walk, cycle, go bird watching or enjoy the mountains. Mid Wales is a wonderful place for enjoying a well-earned holiday away from the noise, light-pollution and pressure of city life. We can offer you a superbly appointed, self-catering bungalow that sleeps two, adjacent to the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve, in the heart of red kite country. Maes Gylfinir is a spacious, modern, self-contained bungalow, attached to our own bungalow home. As you will see from our address, we are situated in Ystrad Meurig, a small village that is thirteen miles southeast of the university town and seaside resort of Aberystwyth. The bungalow is heated and there is a plentiful supply of hot water. Bed linen and towels are provided, if required. There is a television set and video recorder in the lounge. The bungalow can accommodate a maximum of two adults. For the comfort of our guests it is designated as non-smoking. We cannot provide accommodation for children or pets. The bungalow is set in large gardens that are laid to lawns, shrubs, flowerbeds and mature trees. The ground slopes gently southward, so the gardens enjoy sunshine all day. There is ample car parking and turning space in front of the bungalow, which is reached by its own drive, well away from any traffic noise. Buzzards and red kites frequently fly overhead and the gardens are home to a huge variety of smaller birds. The magnificent Cors Caron nature reserve is just 100 yards down the lane. It is one of the largest peatland reserves in the United Kingdom. The railway used to run across the reserve and the bed of the track now forms a wonderfully level pathway that is almost four miles long. You can enjoy it as a gentle morning or evening stroll. The river Teifi meanders the entire length of the reserve and you can leave the railway path to enjoy the longer river walk. Cors Caron was declared a National Nature Reserve because it is a haven for wildlife. It is home to otters, polecats and water voles, as well as birds and insects. Depending on the time of year you can expect to see barn owls, hen harriers, sparrowhawks, merlins and waterfowl, while buzzards and red kites fly overhead at all times of the year. Binoculars and a camera are strongly recommended. From river and coast to mountain and moor, Maes Gylfinir provides an excellent base for exploring the very best that Mid Wales has to offer. Whether your choice is astronomy, walking, driving, cycling, bird watching, photography or simply relaxing, everything that you could want is here. Write, telephone or e-mail us and we will send you our brochure. Karen and Ian look forward to welcoming you. Karen and Ian Poyser Maes Gylfinir Ystrad Meurig SY25 6AX United Kingdom 01974 831471 | |
